Category: Arming garments

Category: arming garments
Arming garments were a necessary element of the armour. They provided hit amortization, protection against attrition from the armour and some elements of the armour were attached to them. Sometimes they were the only protection for poorer men-at-arms. Apart from the protective value of the arming garments, they could have representative and identification tasks. Among arming garments we can find: a gambeson, a padded hose, a padded coif, a padded hood, padded gloves, a wappenrock, a cotte d'armes.
