<h2><b><u>Category: headwear</U></B></H2> Headwear is a necessary element of dress. Similarly to the outer garments, it is the evidence of a social status and marital status in case of women. In medieval painting hardly ever can we find figures without any headwear. Medieval headwear includes: caps, hats, coifs, hoods, kerchiefs and others.

Jesters were present during whole middle ages, they were providing entertainment to the rich noble families as well as simple,not so wealthy knights.






Hats were a very popular way of protection against Sun in medieval times. The straw hat is made of typha sprouts. It has a slightly rounded top with oval shape. Brim's diameter: ca. 39cm; Hat's height: ca. 10cm.
